Ink and Blood, in honor of Al-Mutanabbi Street and the people of Iraq

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the bombing of al-Mutanabbi Street in Iraq. As readings for al-Mutanabbi Street, a traveling exhibition and ongoing artist’s response begins around the world, we write to share this video made by the printer/activist Cathy DeForest, mother of the alum Derek Pyle. It speaks of the solidarity and respect that this project feels for the Iraqi people and their cultural communities. Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here with Cathy DeForest. The Harold F. Johnson Library hosted the traveling exhibition in 2015, and annually recognizes the anniversary.
