Book Arts in Hanoi, Vietnam
Artist’s books and book arts are a provocative way to explore the constantly evolving nature of the book, and the intersection of the book and art. Hampshire College friend and collaborator, artist Steven Daiber of the Red Trillium Press, has just returned from a journey to Hanoi, Vietnam where he taught book arts workshops at the Hanoi Fine Arts University and at FTP Arena, a private digital technology school. Steve was accompanied by his wife, Jackie Hayden, Professor of Film and Photography at Hampshire College.
Photographs from the workshops are viewable online.
Here is an interview on VTV4 the English language station in Hanoi, edited, coincidentally, by a Mount Holyoke alumna. It is beautifully filmed and edited. It includes interviews with students and professors and a few images of books.
More of Steven Daiber’s work with Cuban and Vietnamese artists can be viewed at the Red Trillium Press website, a press facilitating cross-cultural dialogue through book arts and printmaking.
