Hampshire’s Common Read: The 1619 Project

As you know, the Common Read this year for the Hampshire community is the 1619 Project, conceived and edited by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nikole Hannah Jones.   The New York Times Magazine Project 1619 contains a wide array of articles, literary pieces and podcasts.

The librarians have created a resource guide for the 1619 Project that has all of the links you will need to read the original 1619 piece, listen to the podcast, and read related materials.   There are handy links from the guide for both first-year students and transfer students.   We hope you will make use of this guide throughout the year.   And remember, if you need help finding supplementary articles or additional research, we can help you!

Just email askharold@hampshire.edu with any questions about finding or accessing materials.

And to our first-year students, transfer students, James Baldwin scholars, and all of those new to our community, welcome to Hampshire!
