Sustainability in Academic Libraries: the Harold F. Johnson as a Prototype
Hampshire College designed its library to be an experiment and a prototype of the academic library of the future. The innovative approach to library design was presented by library director Jennifer Gunter King at a conference exploring sustainability in academic libraries at the AL4 Conference in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Library and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library jointly hosted a two-day conference on 2-3 June 2016 entitled “Academic Librarian 4 – Sustainable Academic Libraries: Now and Beyond.”
The conference paper, “Extended and experimenting: library learning commons service strategy and sustainability” is available in the journal Library Management, Vol. 37 Iss: 4/5, pp.265 – 274. The powerpoint is available http://library.ust.hk/al4/pages/pdf/1-Theme4_King_Jennifer_Gunter_LTB.pdf
