Learning Commons on the road: first stop Colorado College!

It’s spring break, 2015 and a small team from Hampshire flew away from the snow and mud to visit the Colket Center for Academic Excellence and the Tutt Library at Colorado College.

Our Hampshire team included Jennifer King (me), the Director of the Library; Laura Wenk, Dean of Curriculum and Assessment; Rachel Rubenstein, Dean of Center for Academic Support and Advising; & Bob Crowley, Director of Information Technology.

We were intrigued to learn more about the academic resources in the Colket Center that is located in the Tutt Library. How does it work? What is the impact? What is the relationship between the library and the Colket Center, and what do they imagine are next steps?IMG_3849

We met with Traci Freeman, Director of the Colket Center, and program leads for The Colket Center’s Quantitative Reasoning Center (QRC); Writing Center; ESL Specialist; and  Critical Reading and Rhetoric program. We met with the Academic Deans for the College, Accessibility. We met with Information Technology, and we met with the Librarians.

More photos from the Learning Commons and Library are posted on our flicker page.

An unexpected bonus of the trip was to escape the snow-covered Massachusetts muddy spring, and be greeted by a stunning Colorado Rocky landscape.
