Welcome back, and come take a poem to go!
Welcome back to campus and to the library! Remember that you can always stop by the InfoBar right when you enter to the library for any questions at all.
The research librarians (Rachel, Bonnie, Alana, and Heather) will be staffing Research Help at the InfoBar along with Natane (our Evening Associate who just completed her library science degree!) and Lauren (our fabulous Alumni Research Fellow!) Alexis, our instructional technology Alumni Fellow, will staff a shift as well. You can find one of us there for research help Monday through Thursday from noon- 5 pm.
And, something new in the library this semester: Poems 2 Go!
There is a bin of poems that are free and yours for the taking on the round table by the games collection on the main floor of the library. You can much more read about the poetry project on their website, but here’s a little bit to whet your appetite:
“Poems2go is a poetry project created by Christine Jones and supported by a grant from the Witter Bynner Foundation, to bring more poetry to more people to more places. Inspired by the book Poem In Your Pocket introduced by Kay Ryan, poems2go offers poetry to take with you, tuck in your pocket, your wallet, or to share.”
For those of you out there who are poets yourselves, you can submit your own poems to the project https://poems2go.wordpress.com/contact/, and then one day you may wander in a bookstore, library, or cafe and find your own work! The Hampshire College Library will receive a new batch of poems every 4-6 weeks, so please come to the library and take a poem. Of all the new year’s resolutions we have all made, don’t you think sharing more poetry can only help the world?!
