SAGE Open makes publishing Open Access a little easier…

Last week, SAGE announced that it has reduced the publication cost for one of its Open Access journals, SAGE Open, to $99 – down from $695 per article. While Open Access has inherent benefits for the potential users of that knowledge, one piece that continues to challenge potential publishers of open access materials is the cost. While there is a broad range of publishing schemes available to scholars in the sciences and humanities, SAGE’s acceptance and movement towards a new type of scholarly communication lets this librarian hope that other publishers will follow suit!
