- Classroom Assignment Types – this page contains handouts from colleagues and elsewhere with ideas for assignments.
- Classroom Discussion
- Reading – this page contains handouts with strategies and information on reading – from improving general reading comprehension to tips for reading specific genres.
- Concept Mapping – this page contains helpful information and online tools for concept mapping. Concept maps can be used in many ways – from finding out what students do and do not understand about how ideas are related, to helping them organize their ideas for a paper or project, to summarizing where you have been in a course and where you are going.
- Visual Models – Creating and interacting with physical models can facilitate learning. Here, Hampshire’s Megan Dobro describes 2 ways she experimented with physical models in her Virologoy course.
- Transparent teaching – AAC&U has begun a project on “transparent teaching and learning.” This project is based on the idea that many (all?) students need explicit conversations about the goals of instruction and about the thinking and working strategies used in classes in order to succeed.
- Moodle – connect to tutorials for building a course website using Moodle.
