Seydel Collection surprise!
The other day, we found a book in the Seydel Collection of books that we are processing that proved the old adage not to judge a book by its cover. In this case, it was a boring looking old, light-blue hard cover with the title, The Automated State, on the spine.
But when we opened it up, this is what we saw first:
And then, in the middle of the volume:
The collage text, on the right side below the eyes, reads,
“i am trapped inside my head in everything that i do.”
And the back cover, with signature:
For those of you who knew and worked with Robert, please let us know if you have any more information about this work– we’d love to have more background in order to make our library catalog record more robust. In the meantime, the process of going through Robert’s collection of books continues to be such fun!
