Evolution

In this Harun Yahya group video (part 1 of 3), an unnamed Turkish woman discusses how the complexity of a cell makes it “impossible” to have occurred through evolutionary processes.  She uses “confessions” of four scientists published in 1936-1998 to suggest that scholars still don’t understand the process.

Scientists mentioned in this video:  Alexander Oparin (1894-1980, USSR), Klaus Dose (active in the 1970s), Jeffery Bada (b. 1942), W.H. Thorpe (1902-1986).

Evaluation:

Darwinian evolution does not specifically discuss the origin of life.  The discussion of cells being “too complex” is now typically addressed through evolutionary answers to ideas of “irreducible complexity”.  The narrator also suggests that people have given up creating artificial cells, which is also not true. See this article from the Wall Street Journal, for example. The material presented in the video is dated at best.

The only mention of Islam here is that “everything is created by Allah”, which is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.

There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
