Miracles / Ijaz, History of Science

Philhellenes

Philhellenes in the first of his two vlogs on the “miracle of iron”, demonstrates that meteorites containing iron were well known thousands of years before Muḥammad lived.  This and the fact that the “Black Stone” on the corner of the Ka’ba is (and was) known to be a meteorite suggest that the reference in verse 57:25 cannot be construed as miraculous knowledge only available to God.

The vlogger includes a variety of links in the video’s description with more information about the history of meteorites and iron.

An evaluation of Philhellenes other video on the miracles of iron may be found here.

Evaluation:

Philhellenes’ approach to this material is snide at best here.  He does seem to be attempting to be humorous, but it is at times difficult to differentiate humor from hate-mongering.  He claims his audience is “only for those Muslims who claim Surah 57:25 as a ‘miracle’.”  He does, on the other hand, include references to his Qurʾānic material, although he does alter the end of his Qurʾānic quote.  He has a penchant for a sight gag (note the falling iron gag at 1:14-1:25).  Muslims may find this offensive.

The scientific material is generally accurate.  One error has been corrected with a label on the video (see min 6:55).

The historical material is accurate.
