Extraterrestrials, Medicine / Health

This undated clip from a show called “Ask Huda” (on Huda TV) shows the conversation between a host and a religious scholar (both unnamed), answering a question about extraterrestrial life.  The religious scholar’s answer begins with “He creates what you do not know” (16:8), don’t think we’re the only creation in this universe.  He compares the microscopic world, previously poorly understood, to whatever might be out in space.

Evaluation:

The material on Islam is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.

Although the answer about extraterrestrials — we don’t know — is accurate, the off-hand comments about leprosy’s bacteria’s shape is not.  The Mycobacterium leprae bacteria that causes leprosy is rod-shaped.

There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
