History of Science
Nouman Ali Khan
This clip presents Nouman Ali Khan’s answer to a question (not included in the clip) on Islam and science. Khan’s response is that there is no clash between Islam and science, because scientists are researching the universe while Islam speaks to ethical and moral questions that would be the same now, three hundred years ago, or three hundred years from now.
The format of the recorded form of the lecture does not include any visuals of Nouman Ali Khan, but rather includes animated text and figures that illustrate what he says. There is no indication of the original date or location of the lecture.
The clip includes both front and back bumpers promoting Khalid Musawwir, who apparently made the clips.
Evaluation:
The material on Islam is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.
There is little science presented here. Scientists would agree that they study the universe (and various smaller parts). Scientists would also generally agree that they function in a different arena than the moral and ethical constructions that Khan presents.
There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
