Fossils have discredited evolution

This Harun Yahya group video shows an unnamed Turkish woman discussing fossils and how their supposed lack of transitional forms “prove” that evolution is “imaginary”.

The presenter begins talking about the origin of life, although this is not something that Darwin evolution constructs.  She says that according to the “evolutionists”, life formed a million years ago by chance.  She cites Hoyle to indicate this is too improbable to be true.

The presenter suggests that fossils are the best evidence again evolution.  The fossils displayed on the screen show creatures (fish, reptiles) that appear in a similar form today as they did when the fossil formed.  She claims that no transitional fossils have ever been found.  She closes by citing verse 82:6-8 of the Qurʾān.

Evaluation:

The material on Islam is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.

The scientific material here is not correct.  Current paleobiology suggests that the first single-celled organisms formed 3.5 billion years ago on Earth.  There are also many transitional fossils.  For an excellent discussion of these transitional forms, see Finding Your Inner Fish (2009).

There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
