This Harun Yahya group video suggests that “evolutionists” are engaged in an ongoing deception to convince the world that human evolution occurred.  It suggests these methods include drawings of early primates and hominids.  The video portrays several well known hoaxes as if these were common in the scientific community, such as “Piltdown man” and “Nebraska man”.  It also presents some fossils that were for a time considered possible hominid ancestors until more complete skeletons ruled them out.  The video suggests that “species appear all of a sudden and perfectly on the Earth.”

Fossils named:  Neanderthal man, Piltdown man, Zinjantropus, Ramapithecus.

The video does not include any references to Harun Yahya, but the narrator is one who narrates many of the Harun Yahya group videos.  The user who uploaded the video was only active 2006-2007.

Evaluation:

The material on Islam is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.

The science presented here does not conform with contemporary scientific information, and notably was not present as give in any textbooks checked, one of the video’s assertions.  That the materials were almost all reclassified based on the scientific process — finding more complete fossils and debating the classification systems — is rather evidence of how well evolution as a theory fits the data observed.  One may observe that these particular fossils are far more commonly discussed in videos on creationism (Islamic and Christian) than in any materials discussing evolution positively.

The historical material — the dates given for the various fossils being advanced as evidence and “dismissed” — are almost all incorrect.  A good contemporary textbook on the history of human evolutionary classification should be consulted for a more complete discussion of these fossils.
