This vlog takes Imran ibn Mansur (AKA “Dawah Man”) to task for comments he made on a conference about evolution, “Have Muslims Misunderstood Evolution?” (Deen Institute, Jan 5 2013, 4 hour long video available on their site), which the creator of this video, Kupekake, also attended.
Interestingly, there is little discussion of science here; the comments made by Imran ibn Mansur all are about religious labelling, to which Kupekake provides a critical response, that falls into lampoons.
The original video that Kupekake discusses has been removed from YouTube (“the account associated with this videos has been terminated”), but it apparently spawned a several other response videos as well.
Evaluation:
Although this is within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable (both Kupekake’s response and what is included from Iman ibn Mansur original), the labelling and ranting are not considered good etiquette among Muslims. Most Muslims don’t have an issue with women as speakers at a conference.
The only science presented here is Imran suggesting that the Deen Institute was trying to push science over the Qurʾānic narrative. Neither of the two speakers engage the scientific narratives.
There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
