Cosmology, Miracles / Ijaz

This clip from the Harun Yahya video, “Miracles of the Qur’an”, presents the expansion of the universe as proof of the divine source of the Qurʾān (ijaz).

Evaluation:

The representation of Islam is generally within the bounds of what Muslims have historically understood as acceptable.  However, not all Muslims would accept the interpretations of the Qurʾān provided.

The science is generally correct, as the expansion of the universe was not confirmed until observation by Edwin Hubble in 1929.  Prior to this, scientists has often assumed that the universe was static and attempted to prove a finite universe.

The representation that there was “no astronomy” in the 7th century when the Prophet Muhammad lived is false.  Many had been actively observing for more than a millennia by that time.
