No Somos Maquinas / We are not Machines

No Somos Maquinas / We are not Machines is a storytelling project that highlights the voices and faces of people affected by low-wage restaurant work. The project creates a connection between workers and the community they serve daily, and hopes to foster a collective dialogue about workplace conditions to create a more just and sustainable future for workers in Northampton and other cities. The project was conceived by Javiera Benavente in collaboration with the Pioneer Valley Worker Center and features portraits by Leslie Lynn Lucio, interviews with service workers by Adam Reid, and typesetting and visual design by Seth Gregory. This project has been exhibited at A.P.E. gallery and the Smith College Campus Center in Northampton, MA.
