Having a visual representation of your ideas can help make the project easier to explain to others as well as help you to conceptualize the project as a whole.

You can make your own storyboards using notecards or cutting pieces of paper into smaller rectangles. Each card represents a shot or a moment and is paired with text if there is dialogue. The more cards you make, the more mapped out your project will be before beginning to shoot.

Storyboards can be helpful tools for keeping the production process running smoothly: the shots are laid out and accounted for, the production team is better able to work towards the same goal within their own roles, and it minimizes the need for revision during and post production.
