Tune in below to hear a piece from this semester’s Soundscapes class. The class’s first assignment was a field recording of the R.W. Kern Center, to turn into an original soundscape. Students explored the building and site to find interesting sounds to capture and play with. After hours of recording and editing, Micah and Niko created this piece; we are so thankful that they are willing to share their work with us.
“In this piece we wanted to experiment with using sound effects from the Kern Center to create a drum kit and a rhythm. We also wanted to incorporate the ambiance of the cafe itself into the song and make it feel like you were being immersed.”
-Micah Barnhill-Wright and Niko Nettesheim
