Helen McGunnigle is a Hampshire College alum who has been involved with the R.W. Kern Center since she participated in the Integrated Sciences First-Year Program (ISFP) in 2016, taking a course on the sustainable water use and reuse in the building. After completing the course, Helen conducted independent research modeled after the Kern’s greywater system, which investigated the effects of dosing patterns on greywater filtration. Her current work extends from that research and analyzes dosing patterns based on data collected from the greywater tanks in the Kern Center. Helen worked as a Living Building Ambassador conducting tours and took monthly samples of the greywater at the Kern Center.
