Caponigro focuses on encouraging healthy, creative dialogues about art and the environment, as well as the celebration of both individualism and diversity. He approaches photography with an aesthetician’s flair: beauty is healing. His own photographic explorations often turn toward abstraction, where elsewhere they find congress with such themes as the sublime or the spiritual. In his more recent works, the photographer’s light source and godly supernatural forces are very closely linked, though in Straw and Bramble, this focus is not so apparent: abstraction takes precedence over godly creation. Ultimately, however, process is of much greater significance than any political meaning: choices are aesthetic and beautifying above all.
