Roses are red, violets are… er…. April is National Poetry Month<\/a>! Hampshire College has a rich history of engaging with the art of poetry. The Harold F. Johnson Library<\/a> will be exhibiting poetry-related materials from the Image, Sound and Text Archives<\/a> as well as the library\u2019s circulating collections from Tuesday, April 9 to Monday, April 22. This exhibit is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

One of the posters on exhibit is from a reading engagement at Hampshire by award-winning poet Louise Gluck.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

In the exhibit cases you will see posters from poetry readings and other speaking engagements from Hampshire College\u2019s history.\u00a0 The posters featured in this exhibit are on loan from the Archives and were designed and, in many cases, printed by Hampshire students. While the posters in the exhibit are from the Archives and do not circulate the poetry books on exhibit \u2013 and many, many others \u2013 can be checked out of the Library. The books in the exhibit all feature poets that have spoken at Hampshire College. There are plenty of poetry books in the library that you can check out. So grab a book and head out to soak up some April sunshine whilst being swept away on rivers of verse!<\/p>\n

Plenty more posters from throughout Hampshire’s history are held by the Archives! For more about the Archives you can visit its website<\/a>. If you would like to visit the Archives, open hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00. Other times can be arranged by contacting the Archives at archives@hampshire.edu<\/a> or 413.559.5761. To search for poetry in the library\u2019s circulating collections you can go to the online catalog and search away!<\/p>\n
