Hampshire legends say that ringing the Div Free Bell before completing your Div III will curse you from ever graduating from Hampshire \u2014 but did you know that when it was first donated (circa 1983) that it was meant to be rung after passing any Div?<\/div>\n

The first Div Free Bell is kept in the Archives! It was donated to the college by alum Jonathan Frank 76F, who wanted students to have a way to celebrate passing their Division III. It was an old brass bell that originally belonged to a ship called the Olinda.
