California book artists Peter and Donna Thomas will be visiting Hampshire College in their wandering bookmobile just outside of the Harold Johnson Library tomorrow, Tuesday, September 9th from 10:30- noon.\u00a0\u00a0 Hope you will stop by!<\/p>\n

\"wagon<\/a>These book artists from Santa Cruz, California have a cousin who studied art at Hampshire College in the 80s. \u00a0 They\u00a0have been traveling across the country, heading our way, and are excited to arrive at Hampshire tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Donna and Peter make paper and print and bind books.\u00a0 They make both edition and\u00a0one-of-a-kind books that combine the precision of the fine press aesthetic with the structural creativity found in contemporary artists’ books.\u00a0Current books available are shown on their web site:\u00a0http:\/\/www2.cruzio.com\/~peteranddonna\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Between 2009 and 2013, they made two cross-country road trips,\u00a0traveling with their\u00a0 painted wagon trailer, as “Wandering Book Artists.”\u00a0 The wagon\u00a0functions as their home, a physical artwork, and more esoterically, as a metaphoric embodiment of their ideas about the changing nature of the physical book in the digital age.
