{"id":2573,"date":"2014-09-05T14:09:21","date_gmt":"2014-09-05T18:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.hampshire.edu\/theharold\/?p=2573"},"modified":"2014-09-08T14:17:16","modified_gmt":"2014-09-08T18:17:16","slug":"and-were-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.hampshire.edu\/theharold\/2014\/09\/05\/and-were-off\/","title":{"rendered":"And we&#8217;re off!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students in Billie Mandle and Hope Tucker&#8217;s Hampshire Media Arts course got to see (and try out, explore, play with..) some of the objects from the Archives&#8217; Robert Lisle Collection of Photography on their first day of class in the Liebling Center.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In this photo, students are looking at a stereoscope camera.\u00a0 In the early days of stereo photography, two images were taken using side by side cameras.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Once stereostopic cameras were developed, viewers could use this new piece of equipment that had two lenses 2 1\/2 inches apart (the distance separating the eyes!) and view prints that had been separated and mounted on cardboard.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This technology arrived in America in 1854, and Hampshire College Library owns a couple different stereoscope cameras that are part of our Lisle Collection.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To read more about the Lisle Collection and view an online inventory of works that are in the Hampshire College Archives, see our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshire.edu\/library\/the-hampshire-college-archives\">link<\/a> from the Archives web page.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Additionally, we have the catalog, &#8220;Photography Remembered: a Selective View From the Robert W.
