Come to the library’s main floor to see our two exhibit cases (directly underneath Times Square, across from the InfoBar) transformed with the work of Hampshire College Division III student Mireidys Garcia.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mireidys was one of the presenters in last week’s “Creative Interventions:\u00a0 Presentations of a Selection of Arts and Social Action Div IIIs Combining Forms of Creative Practice and Engagement with Social Issues\/ Social Justice.”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Her Division III chair is Aracelis Girmay (IA) and committee members are Heather Madden (IA) and Annie Rogers (CSI).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \"Mireidys1\"<\/a>\"Mireidys3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mireidys describes her work: “An interdisciplinary writing and bookbinding project, Letter to the Immigrant’s Child<\/strong> comes alive in five poetry collections, five artist’s books, and a critical introduction on process.\u00a0\u00a0 The project explores the multifaceted identities of young adults living in-between cultures and the complexities surrounding the cultural\/identity displacement that comes with migration, in striving to understand the relationship between culture and location.\u00a0\u00a0 Four of the collections are based off of interviews with four Hampshire students and the fifth is written on my experience, from my perspective.”<\/p>\n
