Our volunteers develop\u00a0<strong>immersive, hands-on educational STEM workshop<\/strong>s as well as interact with and work alongside youth to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Share our love for science,<\/li>\n<li>Build intergenerational community, and<\/li>\n<li>Provide visible functional adult role models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After all, <strong>it\u2019s hard to be what you can\u2019t see!<\/strong> Queer Science exists to show students that they are not alone in STEM.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>History of Queer Science<\/h4>\n<p>Queer Science originally started with Dr. Julie Johnston and an incredible team at the University of Minnesota. This program expanded to the University of Connecticut thanks to her colleagues Dr. Anna Marie LaChance, Dr. Stephany Santos, and the Vergnano Institute for Inclusion. Dr. Johnston then came to Atlanta in late 2022 and started a new chapter of Queer Science with the help of volunqueers, C-PIES, and the LGBTQIA Resource Center. Dr. Johnston is now at Hampshire College and bringing Queer Science to the Five Colleges and surrounding area!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is Queer Science?
