\"\"Dr. Juliet Johnston (she\/they) is an Assistant Professor at Hampshire College <\/span>who focuses on environmental microbiology in engineered systems such as <\/span>wastewater <\/span>treatment plants. She is often found out on hikes with her husky, Ava.<\/p>\n

Dr. Anna Marie LaChance (she\/her) is a chemical engineer, STEM educator, and transgender advocate. <\/span>Through her innovative teaching workas well as her creative projects, she is an advocate for abolitionist engineering education and intersectional transfeminism.<\/p>\n

Currently, she works as a Lecturer for the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she offers courses on <\/span>process control, <\/span>thermodynamics, green chemistry, and polymer processing <\/span>from a justice-oriented perspective. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Luce Ward (they\/them) is teaching-focused faculty in the Department of Geosciences at Smith College.<\/span> In addition <\/span>to teaching intro Earth S<\/span>cience courses and working with students to research the diversity and evolution of environmentally relevant microorganisms, <\/span>they are <\/span>passionate about advocating for improving the accessibility of science education. They spend their free time living in the woods with their <\/span>spouse and <\/span>two dogs surrounded by books and board games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Rachel Tenney (she\/her) is an environmental engineer who specializes in wastewater (WW) treatment. She works <\/span>on climate change adaptation and facilities plans for municipalities, WW sludge management, and understanding the <\/span>fate of PFAS in WW as a consultant. She\u2019s also <\/span>almost<\/span><\/i> done with her PhD, which focuses on WW treatment in<\/span> rural communities. <\/span>In her personal time, Rachel loves spending time with her cats, wife (Sarah), blueberry bushes, and a good book.<\/span><\/p>\n

Willow Coville (she\/her)<\/span> is the laboratory technician at Hampshire College,<\/span><\/p>\n

supporting faculty and ensuring lab safety. <\/span>Willow is primarily interested in botany and ecology;<\/span><\/p>\n

in particular the survival strategies of plants and how they relate to each other across the grand<\/span><\/p>\n

tapestry of plant taxonomy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Heather Rosenfeld (they\/she) is the director of the Spatial Analysis Lab <\/span>at Smith College. <\/span><\/p>\n

They are keen on mapping for environmental and social justice, accessibility, and for <\/span><\/p>\n

fun. In their spare time, they can be found taking glamour shots of mushrooms.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Dr. Sarah Perry (she\/her) is on the faculty in Chemical Engineering at UMass Amherst where she serves as the Director of Undergraduate<\/p>\n

Studies. She teaches Introduction to Chemical Engineering<\/i> and an elective on Microfluidics and Microscale Systems<\/i>. Her research focuses on<\/p>\n

using polymer self-assembly and her two cats. LlabLlama is her llab mascot.<\/p>\n

Stacy Dickerman (they\/them\/theirs)<\/span> is a linguist by training and a senior desktop support technician at UMass Amherst<\/span><\/p>\n

by profession. Equally as happy to talk about psycholinguistic and neuroimaging experiments as they are systems <\/span><\/p>\n

administration and keeping old computers alive using open source software. <\/span>In their free time, you can find them knitting, <\/span><\/p>\n

learning ASL, and hanging out with their dog, Casanova.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarah Rost (she\/her) <\/span>is doctoral student at UMass Amherst studying higher education, and works on<\/span><\/p>\n

campus in disability services. She is passionate about student mental health, campus wellbeing, and<\/span><\/p>\n

social science research methodology. Her research focuses on Asian American student mental health<\/span><\/p>\n

literacy. <\/span>Outside of work and school, Sarah enjoys spending time with her cats, Lily (pictured) and<\/span><\/p>\n

Henry, cooking, and reminding her wife (Rachel) to take care of herself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leon Dyer (they\/them) is a research assistant who acts as a lab manager for the Tree Ring Lab at<\/span><\/p>\n

Harvard Forest in Petersham, MA. Leon uses tree cores collected from old growth forests to study forest<\/span><\/p>\n

ecology through time. <\/span>In their free time Leon enjoys cuddling with their cat, Alphonse, playing video<\/span><\/p>\n

games, and reading fantasy and sci-fi novels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ava Sharpe (she\/her)<\/span> is an undergrad senior at Mount Holyoke College<\/span><\/p>\n

studying geology and geography. Ava is interested in accessible science<\/span><\/p>\n

education <\/span>and multidisciplinary approaches to learning. <\/span><\/p>\n

She is from Texas but loves the rocks in New England.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Juliette Husson de Sampigny (she\/her) is a first year student at<\/span><\/p>\n

Hampshire College studying psychology. She failed chemistry sophomore<\/span><\/p>\n

year, but made the comeback of the century here at Hampshire College.<\/span><\/p>\n

She is frequently found on walks outside with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zi Sykes (he\/him) is a DIV I student studying on a pre-med track.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back home in Michigan, Zi lives on a farm with a variety of animals. <\/span><\/p>\n

His favorite being his peacocks. You can often find him out and about <\/span><\/p>\n

campus writing poetry or working with his service dog in training, Thea.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\" Arum Cohen (He\/They) is a student at Hampshire College<\/span><\/p>\n

working towards a degree in elementary education. He loves birds.<\/span><\/p>\n

without her beloved guinea pig, Chicken.<\/span><\/p>\n

Virginia Wardlaw (they\/them) is a second year Div II at Hampshire College, <\/span>focussing <\/span>on<\/span><\/p>\n

Environmental Education. When not in school they work as a seasonal <\/span>environmental <\/span>educator at <\/span><\/p>\n

the Hitchcock Center for the Environment. Having grown <\/span>up in the Connecticut <\/span>River Valley, they <\/span><\/p>\n

are incredibly fond of the local ecosystem, and <\/span>are over the moon <\/span>for salamander season!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

sixteen. When Annie is not tearing up the keyboard she loves trying new coffee spots, snowboarding,<\/p>\n

camping, robotics and road tripping (one of her life goals is to visit all of the national parks!)<\/p>\n

Food and Farming. They love animals, and nature more broadly. They also do historical <\/span><\/p>\n

recreation (making clothes and fencing) and enjoy art.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amrita Adak (she\/they) is an alum of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in <\/span>Neurobiology, Language, and Trauma.<\/p>\n

Her current research focuses on the impact linguistic and cultural brokering can have on a child, specifically within the medical sphere.<\/p>\n

She is a passionate advocate for intersectional STEM advocacy and community building. During their free time, Amrita can be found<\/p>\n

crocheting capes for her friends\u2019 pets, researching the etymology or random words, or playing another round of GeoGrid.<\/p>\n

Ambar Hart Gonz\u00e1lez (she\/her)<\/span>\u00a0is a Div III student at Hampshire College that is focusing on microscopy (about to graduate!!!).<\/span><\/p>\n

If not in the lab looking through a microscope, she loves to read, dance and take naps. She is from Ponce, <\/span>Puerto Rico <\/span>which <\/span><\/p>\n

means that she\u2019s<\/span>constantly cold in Amherst (even after 4 years, still not used to it).<\/p>\n

Leo Giannini (she\/her)<\/span> is a DIV III student at Hampshire College, focusing on Biochemistry and Visual Arts. Originally<\/span><\/p>\n

from Croatia, she enjoys exploring where science and creativity meet. Outside of academics, Leo loves taking care of<\/span><\/p>\n

her plants, watching anime, and hanging out with her very fluffy cat, Jojo (named after JoJo\u2019s Bizzare Adventures).<\/span><\/p>\n

Haley Rivers (they\/them) is a Class of 2019 Mount Holyoke alum, where they majored in Environmental Studies \/ Ecosystem Science <\/span>and <\/span><\/p>\n

received <\/span>a Coastal and Marine Science Certificate from the Five College Consortium. They lived in Hawai\u02bbi for two years, worked for the <\/span>USDA<\/p>\n

Forest Service and Hawai\u02bbi Volcanoes National Park, and met their fianc\u00e9e. Haley now works as a Planner at Tighe & Bond where they assist <\/span><\/p>\n

municipalities with their MS4 annual <\/span>requirements, work on climate resiliency projects, and serve as the Co-Chair of the <\/span>LGBTQIA+ <\/span><\/p>\n

Subcommittee <\/span>of the DEI Program. <\/span>Outside of work, Haley is a massive nerd that reads too many <\/span>science fiction \/ fantasy books and is in two<\/p>\n

D&D campaigns. They also love toswim, camp, and hike.<\/p>\n

\"\" Bryce Merrill (Fae\/Them) is a Div 1 Hampshire student, fae are majoring <\/span><\/p>\n

in queer studies, with a focus on trans and gender studies<\/span><\/p>\n

Patrick is an informal STEM education researcher studying how students learn from physical science demonstrations. He currently works as the lecture prep manager for UMass Amherst. He recently won an NSF grant to work on the creation of a STEM TTRPG, which will begin playtesting next year.<\/span>
\n<\/span>In his freetime he can be found in the gym bodybuilding, playing Pokemon, holding his 15 lbs Maine coon, & visiting New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n
