Editors’ note: What do young people need to have healthy, satisfying and informed sexual and reproductive lives? In this DifferenTakes, author Gillian Dolce draws from a global survey of more than 800 young people to advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights approaches that speak to young people. These must build on young people’s lived realities and perspectives, including those living with HIV and other groups with unique needs. From this viewpoint, Dolce turns a critical eye on prevailing international family planning efforts aimed at youth that put national economic and population reduction goals in com- petition with young people’s needs.
