The North End (Oct. 2012)
During 1977-78, Abraham Ravett served as an Artist in Residence in the North End of Boston. His goal was to work with the local youth and instruct them in various aspects of photography and video production.
In collaborations with the young adults of that community, he produced a forty-minute videotape documentary (THE NORTH END) that observed and described the daily activities and festivities during that year.
With material support from the Polaroid Foundation, Abraham also curated a photo exhibition of SX 70 images made by members of the workshop that documented their daily lives and environment.
Selection of Abraham Ravett’s Polaroid SX-70 photographs called The North End was shown on the magicboard (co-curated by John Gunther).
