Past and Present Princess Grace Awards Winners at Hampshire

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA was formed after the death of Princess Grace in 1982. The publicly supported organization gives scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships to emerging artists in theater and playwriting, dance and choreography, and film. Hampshire has had a strong showing among the Princess Grace Awards film recipients in recent years. Erick Msumanje 09F received the award in 2012, Devyn Manibo 10F won in 2013, and Allison Waite 11F was awarded in September, 2014.

The recipients of the 2014 Elaine Mayes Scholarship Award for Division III Projects in Film, Photography, and Video: JIAYI LIU and FAUSTINO VIDAL. Jiayi works within the medium of still photography and Faustino works with both still and moving images.
Jiayi and Faustino will receive $1,000 each to support their projects ‘A Little Patch of Land’ and ‘Brooklyn, Red Hook’. The award was established in the fall of 2009 to honor the work of founding Hampshire College Film & Photography Program member Elaine Mayes for her contributions to the program.
