Hampshire College is competing in the 2015 Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge, involving 60 schools from 31 states. To compete, any student, faculty or staff can create an account here, and for six weeks register their outdoor activities – biking, bird-watching, camping, climbing, fishing, hiking, gardening, walking, jogging, skateboarding, outdoor games (frisbee, horseshoes) and more. One way to log activities – Hampshire College Outdoor Programs, Recreation and Athletics (OPRA) offers outdoor classes and trips. “We’ll take tablets on trips so participants can log their activity,” instructor Glenna Alderson says. “Most of our trips are free, and we believe they’re all easily affordable.”

Outdoor Nation is a non-profit dedicated to reconnecting young people with the outdoors. The Challenge is sponsored locally by Valley Bike and Ski Werks and nationally by The North Face, and REI.
