Scott describes his work&#8211;which powerfully addresses such topics as American imperialism, symbols of nationalism, police brutality and police murders of African Americans, the history and legacies of slavery, and anti-Black racism in the US &#8211; as &#8220;revolutionary art to propel history forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These workshops are being organized in conjunction with Dread Scott\u2019s public lecture, \u201cOn the Impossibility of Freedom in a Country Founded on Slavery and Genocide,\u201d Feb 21 (7pm, Herter Hall 231 @UMass Amherst).
