Isaiah T. Brown: I was an environmental science major at Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole, MA. I am currently a freshman at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. I earned my Eagle Scout rank from the Scouting BSA organization on August 11th, 2019.
Steve Skop is married with two daughters and lives in Millis, MA. Steve is a professional musician as well as a music teacher at both Anna Maria College in Worcester, MA, and Thayer College in Braintree, MA. Steve has been in the music industry for 30 years and has experience in a variety of genres such as jazz, pop, rock, etc.
Reflection: The interview itself went fairly well. The full-length interview was the third take, as the first two had to be redone due to mishaps. Throughout the interview, Mr. Skop provided key insight as to how the pandemic has impacted his life as a musician, parent, and teacher. I also asked Steve a bit of a curveball question regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and how it was impacting his career and overall life. Mr. Skop was able to answer that question especially well, and pointed out the significance of African Americans in the music industry. It should also be noted that after the interview, Mr. Skop claimed that he is usually not good at doing interviews, so the fact that he performed so well was not only appreciated but also a pleasant and enjoyable surprise.
