Reflection: When it comes to the interview process, I learned how important it is to stay organized and to keep an open mind. Because this was my first interview experience, I didn’t know exactly how the whole process was going to look like. I wanted to make sure that my interviewee felt comfortable and prepared for the interview itself. Coming up with questions for the interview was both exciting as well as a bit overwhelming. As a college student, I found myself wanting to ask more questions than the interview time would allow. Also learning how to trim down my questions taught me that there is a lot of value focusing on particular questions.
I really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone to be as professional as possible with the interview itself. Hearing about my interviewee’s experience as a worker during the pandemic really opened my eyes. I gained a better understanding of the struggles and challenges that came with working for a university. While being a bit nervous about the interview, I was able to slowly get into a good rhythm of asking questions, while being mindful of the conversation. This allowed me to fully give my attention to the interviewee which made the flow of the interview feel calm. Once again, I feel really appreciative to have been given the opportunity to have this unique interview experience.
