Geometry

This brief video silently shows the steps used to create some of the basic shapes used decoratively.  Although it is often described as “Islamic” because of the frequency with which it is found in Islamic architecture and other decorative arts, it is also applied geometry.

This video was uploaded by DesignShra, an small interior design firm in Cairo, Egypt.

Evaluation:

Technically, there is nothing Islamic here, but most Muslims (and many non-Muslim artists and art historians) will recognize the patterns.

Applied geometry — accepted by scientists and artists everywhere.

There is insufficient historical material on which to base an evaluation.
