Opening Day – What to Expect
With one week until new students arrive, the campus staff are busy getting ready to welcome them on Opening Day, Thursday, August 29, 2013. We hope that this brief photo-narrative will help you plan for the day.
Plan to arrive between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Hampshire.
You will be directed to park near the Robert Crown Center (RCC).
After you check in, you can start to move in. Staff are here to help you! Hint: Missing something essential? Planning time to shop? Local stores will be very busy, so make sure you give yourself enough time to return before students meet with orientation groups at 3:30 p.m.
Take a break from moving and enjoy the complimentary Picnic Lunch on the lawn from noon to 1:30 p.m. In the afternoon, students and families are also invited to optional panel discussions (The Academic Program at 1:30 and Life Outside the Classroom at 2:30).
At 3:30 p.m., students meet their Orientation Groups and families can attend a panel on Health and Safety or take a campus tour.
After the Welcome Ceremony, get to know orientation groups and new friends during an outdoor dinner. This is a complimentary meal before families leave campus for the evening. (Families are encouraged to leave by 6:45 p.m., as residential students have a mandatory 7 p.m. meeting.)
