Student Translation Fest

Hampshire’s school of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies hosted the second annual Student Translation Fest earlier this month. Thanks to funding from an Andrew W. Mellon grant, it was also the first Translation Fest with prizes.
In first place, Patricia Hartland 12S won $500 for the translation component of her Division II concentration. Neal Graves 10F and Sam Mayers-White 10F tied for second place with translation components of their Division III projects, each receiving $400.
Assistant Professor of Russian Literature Polina Barskova organized the event. In addition to the competition, the Translation Fest included readings of translations by students from Professor Barskova’s class, Poetry and Translation: Borders and Bridges.
